Gilberto González Guerra
Physical Actor / Dancer / Director / Choreographer
Gilberto González Guerra is a mexican performer with an eclectic background in street and stage performance. His company Onírico, which he founded in 1998, quickly rose to fame in the performance arts scene in Mexico. It was a popular group noted and respected for its original dramaturgy and distinct movement language (a fusion of dance, theater and clown). Onírico’s poetic fantastical worlds captivated the hearts and imaginations of its public. Onírico performed in major festivals and theatres both nationally and internationally.
Gilberto won best choreographer in the Contemporary Choreographic Composition Awards INBA‐UAM (the most important performance arts competitions in Mexico) on three separate occasions. In the same awards he won best performer in 2008. He has received numerous scholarships and grants from the National Council for Arts and Culture of Mexico for his work.
He is currently part of Cirque du Soleil’s talent bank and has been part of their team as a physical actor / main character (The Baron) in their show Saltimbanco, with which he toured for three years.
Presently, Gilberto is in his fourth consecutive year selected as a member of the National System of Art Creators from the National Fund for Culture and Arts of Mexico (the highest distinction for artistic creators in Mexico).
